BRENDA MOSS

Lynchburg, Virginia

Brenda Moss oldest son, Shawn Moss, was taken by gun violence in Lynchburg, Virginia, in August 2014. He was shot 17 times and killed by a convicted felon who should never have had access to a gun. The man who shot Shawn had hidden in the bushes and then fled the scene. It took authorities a month to track him down. A little over a year later, Brenda began sharing Shawn’s story with others, not realizing how many people she would reach in such a short amount of time. Brenda is very strong in her faith, which is something that she carries with her every day. Now, Brenda’s life mission is to continue fighting to stop gun violence and prevent others from going through what she has. Brenda was the guest speaker in 2018 at Gun Sense University sponsored by Everytown for Gun Safety, where she is currently an Operation Coordinator through the survivor fellowship with Everytown Survivor Network.
